Most web pages are not contained in a single file like a Microsoft Word document. Instead, they rely upon a multitude of additional files that provide the graphic images and other non text-based content of the web page. While this is convenient for web browsers because it allows them to display the page before all of the pieces have been downloaded, it makes web pages inconvenient to send by email. The easiest way around this problem is to compress the entire folder of files into a single file and then email that single compressed file instead of the multitude of little files. This article describes how to do that.
Step 1: Locate the folder that you want to email
When you create Hypercosm enhanced web pages using Hypercosm Teleporter or Hypercosm Studio, a folder is created that contains the web page along with a variety of additional folders that contain resources used by the web page as shown below:
Step 2: Compress the Folder
To compress a folder using Windows XP, right click on the folder icon, then select "Send To..." on the popup menu and then "Compressed (zipped) Folder" as shown below:
When the mouse button is released, a new ".zip" file will be created from the folder as shown below:
Step 3: Email the Zip File
Now that the folder has been compressed into a single file, you can send the "zip" file by adding it as an attachment to an email. An easy way to send an email attachment is by right clicking on the zip file, selecting "Send To" from the popup menu and then selecting "Mail Recipient" as shown below:
When the recipient receives this email, they will need to double click on the "zip" file attachment in order to extract the original folder so they can view the web page that is contained inside.
