Microsoft Vista has introduced a new set of security controls that are intended to make your system more secure. One new security measure is a tool called "User Account Controls" or sometimes "User Access Controls". This feature can sometimes prevent you from accomplishing certain tasks such as installing new software. When installing new software, it may be necessary to temporarilly disable the UAC. This article describes how to do that.
Step 1: Open Up the Control Panel
Go to the Start menu, then to "Settings". Click on the menu item labelled "Control Panel " as shown below:
Step 2: Open User Accounts
On the Control Panel dialog box shown below, find the "User Accounts" icon and double-click it to open the User Accounts dialog box:
Step 3: Deselect User Account Control
On the User Account Control dialog box, uncheck the checkbox on the lower left that is labelled "Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer". Click the "Ok" button.
