Description

This simulation depicts the effect of white light passing through two prisms.

Purpose

This simulation duplicates a famous experiment first performed by Sir Iaasic Newton that demonstrated that white light is composed of all of the colors of the spectrum. The first prism disperses the light into a spectrum. The second prism realigns the light so it is perceived as white light.

Features

  • Ray tracing
This simulation uses "ray tracing" mathematics to simulate the paths of the light rays through the prisms.
