This simulation shows how the motion of a pair of linked pendulums diverges over time due to their chaotic motion and slight differences in their initial positions.

Purpose

The purpose of this simulation is to illustrate the principle of chaotic motion and how two chaotic systems that start out almost identical will diverge over time due to slight changes in their initial states (the so-called "butterfly effect").
