Hypercosm Studio
The goal for many 3D training and visualization applications is not for content to just look realistic, but for it to act realistic as well. True simulation must include complex behaviors, interactions, and dynamics. Creating this level of unlimited 3D interactivity requires scripting. Hypercosm Studio is the scripting tool to use for these demanding types of applications.
Advantages
Hypercosm Studio offers a high level scripting language for a faster, more intuitive way to add in behaviors, phyics, and reactions to models and animations than a language such as C, C++, or Java. Its advantages include:
-
Rapid application development
Get 3D applications up and running in just hours or days instead of weeks or months.
-
Easier to Maintain
Not only is code quicker to write, but it is also easier to maintain in the future because the high level scripting language requires far fewer lines of code
-
Reliable
The interpreted programming language removes many problematic programming pitfalls and therefore makes programming code more reliable
-
Built-in Support for 3D
The OMAR (Object Oriented Modeling, Animation, and Rendering) language provides built-in support for 3D including vector math and scene graph management
Applications
With a full modern object-oriented scripting language, you can create real 3D applications, not just 3D paperweights that spin around. Some examples of rich scripted functionality include the following:
-
Working 3D controls
Simulate 3D equipment controls containing working push buttons, dials, switches, and keypads
-
Physics
By adding mathmatical equations for physics into your script code, you can create simulations that incorporate real physics including gravity, collisions, and the effects of forces. Iaasic Newton would have loved Hypercosm.
-
Free manipulation
Make it possible for users to freely manipulate 3D handles, doors, tools, and connectors thereby making your models truly interactive.

Evaluation Version
To download a FREE evaluation version of Hypercosm Studio, click here. The evaluation version works just like the full product version of the software except that it does not allow you to compile projects into Hypercosm applets and web pages. You can still write, compile, and run projects on your local machine. In order to compile your projects for distribution on the web, you will need the full product version of Hypercosm Studio.
System Requirements
To run Hypercosm Studio, you must have the following:
- Windows 95, 98, 2000, or XP
- A web browser such as Internet Explorer (4.0 or later), Firefox, or Netscape
- A 3D capable video card is highly recommended
